How about a UPS for your Quadra HamClock?

Read Time: 2 minute(s)

I just stumbled across a source of uninterruptible power supplies for the Inovato Quadra HamClock. For $25, you get a 5VDC passthrough battery (my interpretation) with 3,000 mAh capacity. N0LSR builds these inside a 3D-printed case. (The image below comes from the N0LSR store but I’ve rotated it to fit the EtherHam format better.)

I had a few questions about this UPS so I contacted Udo N0LSR. Udo replied that this “…is a complete unit with all the necessary cables and connectors. To use it you plug the cable form the Quadra power supply into the UPS and at the exit of the UPS is a pigtail with a barrel connector which fits into the Quadra power input…The UPS has an electronic board which makes sure that the battery is not overcharged during continuous operation. It also protects the battery from being over discharged  if there is no power at the input for prolonged time.”

This seems like a heck of a deal for $25. Disclosure: I just ordered one of these so I’ll be able to add to this report later, once I receive the UPS and put it into service. The closest I came to anything like this was a larger TalentCell battery for $32.

There are other products in the N0LSR store, including a M1KE charging stand and a belt clip for the M1KE, some additional LiFePO4 batteries in enclosures, a high-capacity battery for the Kenwood D74/D75 radio platform, and much more. It’s worth a look.

N0LSR offers more than products on his Links page at https://www.n0lsr.com/links. This, too, is worth spending a few minutes perusing.
