Inovato closing online store December 19

Michael Burmeister-Brown, principal of inovato, posted this message in the inovato forum:

Dear Fellow Hams,

I want to say a huge thank-you to the hams who have sent hundreds of prayers and well wishes. These have largely kept me and my family going since July 2024 when I got my diagnosis of pancreatic / lung cancer. I am blessed to have the best customers in the world. I can’t thank you enough.

Due to various treatments, I have been able to keep inovato going, but the time has come to finally close shop. For a limited time, I will still try to answer questions on the forum, but it will also close at some point. The online store will be the first to close as of December 19th, and the final Quadra4K inventory is now sold out.

If you missed out, you still have options to get HamClock in your shack! See this post for details:

Making your own HamClock PC

Thank you everyone for your patience and support of this project.

73,

Michael

P.S. I release all support content and the Quadra Restore Image to the community.

This is very sad news. First, the inovato products have been affordable, useful, and interesting adjuncts to amateur radio. I appreciate mine. I hate to see the product line disappear.

Second, none of us want to see one of our own go through the journey Michael is on. I’m pretty sure I would not have been able to carry on the work of a small company like Michael has. I have gratitude and respect for him.

Third, those of us of a certain age might remember the old PC Tools software from 1985-or-so. That was one of several software products sold by a company known as Central Point Software. CPS was Michael’s company. I used his software and appreciated it. This means my connection to Michael’s work goes back 40 years. I cannot help but feel connected to him and to his family.

It probably goes without saying that the amateur radio community wishes Michael and his family well. I know I do. Thank you, Michael, for all you have done for amateur radio.

I’ll close this with a traditional Irish blessing, simply because I love the message and how it is presented:

May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire.

May joy and peace surround you,
Contentment latch your door,
And happiness be with you now,
And bless you evermore.

Bless you and yours
As well as the cottage you live in.
May the roof overhead be well thatched
And those inside be well matched.

May your neighbors respect you,
Trouble neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And heaven accept you.
