Amateur Radio Over Internet

Support EtherHam

Why support EtherHam℠

EtherHam℠ and Random Wire℠ are really one community of people interested in amateur radio and technology. I have chosen to use two technologies. Substack’s newsletter service is a great ecosystem but it comes with restrictions. I have much more control over how I implement WordPress. The latest evolution is to host most content on a WordPress site (EtherHam.com) and continue to use Substack for communicating the latest content to subscribers (www.RandomWire.us).

This costs some money, primarily for domain names and hosting. There are some software packages required and additional cloud services. Your contributions help me maintain these systems and provide content for your use and enjoyment.

Few services focused on internet-connected amateur radio

There are also relatively few services that focus on internet-connected amateur radio. If this is a topic that interests you, it may be worth supporting the handful of people who are sharing knowledge and supporting the growth of internet-connected and digital modes.

  • The Random Wire and EtherHam focus primarily on amateur radio over internet. “The Random Wire℠ talks of tinkering with technology and amateur radio.” The same is true for EtherHam.
  • Zero Retries digs deep into newer technology related to digital radio, including both voice and data modes. “An independent newsletter about technological innovation in Amateur Radio, promoting Amateur Radio as (literally) a license to experiment with and learn about radio technology.”
  • EvoHam is a newer site focused on digital voice and the content is growing rapidly. “Digital modes, IP linking, SDR technology, and cross-mode gateways are transforming what’s possible on the amateur bands. EvoHam celebrates that evolution, while keeping one foot firmly planted in the technical roots of radio.”

These sites may be worth your interest and engagement. Zero Retries and EvoHam are resources I recommend.

About Amazon Affiliate links

You can choose to purchase items I describe in my newsletters. Some of those items are sourced from Amazon, and when I include those products in my newsletters, I may link them to my Amazon affiliate account. When you purchase through an Amazon Affiliate link, I may receive a very small commission. The price you pay is not different from the price without the commission. These links make it easier for me to pursue projects you may enjoy.
